On May 14th at 12 PM, we are gathering at Ottawa Police Headquarters (474 Elgin St.) to defend our rights — rights protected by the Treaty of 1701, the Royal Proclamation, and the Canadian Constitution.
For two years, Indigenous store owners have asked the City of Ottawa and the Ottawa Police Service for meetings to uphold our rights to free and open trade.
Instead, the Ottawa Police threatened our landlords with $50,000 fines if they don’t evict Indigenous tenants and raided our Red Roots Trading Co 196 Beechwood location.
Ottawa means “to trade” in Algonquin.
Trade is not a crime — trade is our right.
Join us May 14th to defend Indigenous sovereignty and treaty rights.
